As a company that’s by women, for women, we’re constantly seeking new ways to spotlight stellar females who inspire us. This series is an opportunity to celebrate the ThirdLove community and share their incredible stories.
Meet Macy Cate Williams, a Bay Area native with enviable style and an equally amazing job that requires her to shop. As the Editor of POPSUGAR Shop and POPSUGAR Must Have, she shares her most splurge-worthy finds and the hottest deals with readers each day. Read on to find out when she feels most confident, how she stays balanced, and more!
What inspired you to do what you’re doing now?
Whether I’m writing about fashion, beauty, or home decor, I love helping all women live their best lives through product recommendations and shopping advice. It was my dream to work as an editor since I was 16 years old, so being able to do what I love every day is surreal. I literally shop for a living, what’s better than that?
When do you feel most confident in your skin?
When I dress for me — not anyone else. I love expressing my style through playful clothes and makeup. Some days I’m feeling bold and vibrant, while other times I keep it neutral. As long as I look in the mirror and know that what I’m wearing is true to myself, I’m happy.
Did you have any insecurities growing up?
I remember getting boobs overnight in high school and having no idea what to do with them. I would always wear crewneck tops or grow my hair extra long to cover them up. It wasn’t until I entered my 20s that I realized they were actually pretty great and I had nothing to be ashamed of. All boobs are beautiful!
Who/what has shaped you to be the person you are today?
My mom has encouraged me to chase my dreams since the moment I was interested in journalism. I remember her driving me to my first magazine internship interview fresh out of high school. Every time I doubt myself, she’s there to tell me I am capable of achieving whatever I put my mind to.
What are your proudest accomplishments?
I recently won a Folio Rising Star Award, intended for individuals under 30 making their mark in the media industry — that was so exciting. I also starred in a national Kohl’s commercial last year which was one of the coolest experiences ever.
What impact do you want to leave on the world?
It’s important to be inclusive of all women in shopping content, considering body types, lifestyles, and incomes. I hope I make every reader feel inspired and part of the narrative when they read my work.
How do you stay balanced?
I carve out time every week to practice self-care, whether it be making a face mask or just taking a long walk around my neighborhood. I think it’s important to have alone time without screens, so I won’t even admit how many magazine subscriptions I have. My bookshelf is filled with hundreds of them.
What’s your favorite ThirdLove bra and why?
The 24/7 Lace Contour Plunge Bra is my favorite pick, without a doubt. I wear mine so much, it’s probably time to get another. The lace is so delicate and pretty, yet it’s smooth enough to wear under a t-shirt. It gives me the perfect amount of lift and let’s be real, it’s just sexy.
Tell us your ThirdLove Story.
The first time I tried ThirdLove, it was the 24/7 Cotton T-Shirt Bra — I was hooked. It was supportive, but it didn’t dig into my sides (a problem I often face). I immediately texted my sister and told her she needed to try one too. We both wear D cups and finding an effective design can be tricky. Now I try to make all my friends convert.
